the paper in my new sketch book is a little thicker than normal, and a light coat of water color does a heap of wonders! i wish i had more colors (my wc set is 16). i know i can mix colors, but i hate not being able to recreate the colors i had before. oh well! good practice right?

Holister the Rat

remember the rat I said I wanted to make simple? this is him. I drew him with a pencil and cleaned him up in photoshop. Most of the time I clean up my work in Illustrator, but I just go with whatever mood I am.

Isis- our "Little Deer"

Isis, our Basenji, was helped yesterday to ease her pain, after struggling with fanconi syndrome for over the past year.

She was a great dog, an interesting dog, and a great example of the breed. But most of all, she was our first dog. Any other dog that we get after her will be living under her shadow, because she set a high bar.

We'll miss you "little deer"-

Brother Bear - What Could Have Been

i was going through my morgue and found these 2 images from Brother Bear. Interesting to see the approach that could have been. I remember reading something about Bambi being a huge inspiration for the visual look of the film, it does after all take place in the woods. These are the only images I have ever found, and I am glad that I saved them when I did.

New Year- New stART!

wow- has it really been over a month since my last entry? besides being really sick over the holidays, i've been busy- dealing with my car & moving- so updating isn't really on my mind. but here are a few things that i drew while watching cesar millan wrestle with troubled pooches!


this poodle started the whole doggy drawings. i was looking through b. chui's cat & dog sketches and this one caught my eye. after that i wanted to draw some dogs on my own.
