Toot & Puddle

omg- i love these little pigs! not just because they are cute and pink, and pigs... okay that is most of it. But the show looks really awesome. Rich with color and expressions, it's a very refreashing cartoon to come on the air. it's based of books of the same name, by Holly Hobbie. it reminds me of cartoons i used to watch when i was younger.

Here is a link to some animation

here is an interesting article that recently came out in AM. I have been seeing ads for it for months.. so I am glad that it airs next month :)

Dinner Time

a little part of what i have been focusing on :)

Owltober 27 One Lined Owl

more of an excersise than anything really. i mean- really?!

so i am going to post a little snippet of my other artistic 'attempt' of the day to make it up to you!

WIA meeting, School, and the Sickness

cool. so last night went to another WIA meeting, been going to these for some time now, and the guest speakers were people in 'adult animation' (no- not hentai!) but animation geared towards adults. Venture Bros, ATHF, Family Guy etc. It was interesting, and the speakers were great. Overall you get the message- animation is a business & studios are going to make what sells, and make weird decisions like cancelling Futurama.

the list of speakers.

Patric Verrone - President, WGA West <-- former writer for Furturama
Yvette Kaplan - Director, “Beevis & Butthead” <-- currently at Sit Down, Shut Up
Ollie Green - Line Producer, “Superjail”
Adam Kosloff - Staff Writer, “Spaceballs: The Animated Series”

As for school. My time at the Animation Academy is now over, but it was great :) For the past few months... drawing and having fun wasn't co-existing. it was going through the motions, but taking this class really sparked that creative candle that was on its way out. I feel motivated to do something I am proud of saying I drew. Trouble with me is that i dont take things to the next level. I just leave it at the beginning stages, which i like doing. I like seeing little doodles that sparked creativity for something else. There was an explantion of what art/sketching should convey- it should reflect the skills the artist has at that time. magic word?- Commit! That really hit home with me, because I know I didn't do that- gotta commit to taking it to the next polished level. And- lets face it- people don't look at your hidden potential (a little HGTV joke), they look at what you just made, and you're skills are judged so. I learned that you limit your drawing by not seeing it to the end; if you really take the time to take it finish, you are able to bring it to a more sophisticated level. The enviroment in the class is great, people are friendly and approachable, and always willing to give advice. I can't wait to take my next class... I haven't been this moto in a long time.

As for my sickness- i am feeling much, much better. i think i was sick a lot longer than i realized, but then BAM - hit me outta no where. the only artistic efforts i was able to do everyday were the Owls. yay for Owls! Couldn't run/walk for the past week... blah. But before I was sick I did at least 50 miles this month. Woot!

I'll be posting up more stuff that I have been experimenting with at the Academy after the month is over, y'know, after Owltober?

Mousey Expressions

just realized i never mentioned that i was taking art classes at The Animation Academy. it is awesome being surrounded with people who really love the industry and can talk about it. why take classes? felt that i needed to be in a motivating enviroment, learn some different approaches, and some be a part of something creative... also, i beleive that you never stop learning :) Charles Zembillas is an awesome teacher who has great insight about execution of art as well as the industry. a lot of the people i really admire have gone to the academy, so it is an awesome feeling that i am getting the same experiance.

The Same Team

the statue of Darkwing Duck has rekindled my love for drawing darkwing duck. so i drew this up.

i like to think that honker helps gos with her homework and gosalyn ensures that honker never is the last person picked to play on the team.

Sideshow & DARKWING DUCK!

okay, so when i was between the ages of 8-12, my whole life was Darkwing Duck.

I drew him constantly, recorded the shows from the disney afternoon on VHS and through my radio, and my friends knew not to call me saturday mornings (I think 9-10). I had the Pizza the Hut personal pan pizza box taped and glued to the inside of my 1st portolfio - a folder dedicated to Darkwing Duck. I had the action figure, the plush doll, the sticker album, the MAD 'wanted poster' (which had the Tiny Toons on the other side)... do you see where I am getting at?

So when the DVD's came out, of course I was excited- though the lack of dedication from disney's part, to make these DVDs really awesome blows- I still love it.

Anyways- I am excited that Sideshow Collectables is releasing a statue of the coolest cartoon character ever. Maybe they'll release the whole gang?!

Oh yeah!

The Brat

i think that every cat owner feels that their cat is one of a kind. special- different from another persons cat. their cat has 'so much personality'... etc

i am no different.

i love my cats, but Romeo stands out.he is the prettiest boy who suffers from orange cat syndrome, aka BRAT syndrome.

Tell Me Everything

i was inspired by bobby chiu's 'podcast'... and this came up.

whenever i can't think of something to draw, it always ends up as a dragon. i like dragons. i wish i had a dragon.

anyways... she's all ears, waiting to hear your latest gossip...

Walking with Dinosuars- LIVE!

i love dinosaurs. that is something that hasn't changed since i was a kid and i always thought wouldn't it be cool if there were animatronic dinosuars that moved freely? well- i guess i wasn't the only one who had this dream! from the creators of the Walking Dinosaurs series comes a live event... where you get to see life sized dinosuars, moving and roaring thier little hearts out. it was a tour that started in Sydney, Australia- and it's touring the US. my husband and i saw the making of this past weekend and learned it was going to be at the Honda Center in August.
Friday August 22, 7pm baby- front and center! well- row J- but still in the center!
